Using the file sharing system built-in to your operating system is a fast and
simple way to access your U-Storage account. However, this service is only available
for computers located on the UCSB network.
File Sharing Setup
To connect your Windows system to U-Storage, open any folder and
follow the menu Tools -> Map Network Drive....
This will bring up the following window:
| Drive: |
U: |
| Folder: |
\\ustorage.ucsb.edu\[UCSBnetID] |
Next you'll want to click different user name, which will pop
up a window asking for your UCSBnetID and password:
Fill these in and click OK. Your U-Storage account will then show up
as an additional storage volume under "My Computer". You can use it just like you would
any other Windows volume.
